Droitwich Salt was re-launched in 2017 almost 100 years after production had ceased, and these finer crystals are gently cold smoked over beech wood by Macneils Smokehouse.
Macneil's Smokehouse don’t do things by halves. Based down the road from us, Tony Macneil uses his Norwegian Smoking Kiln to gently smoke our beautiful salt. Smoking is a traditional way of preserving and flavouring food and it has been common practice in Norway for many thousands of years. Smoking processes and methods have been passed down through the generations and are still very much in use today.
Having tasted Tony’s wonderful produce we appreciated the subtle flavour of his beech wood smoking. Also being in the Heart of England it is a great local partnership we have together.
Droitwich Salt is sourced from one of the oldest and purest brine springs in the world. The salt is harvested by hand at Churchfields Saltworks where the gentle process of crystallising the natural brine to pure salt is done using renewable energy.
