Discover an alternative India Pale Ale with Green’s IPA.
Thanks to long forgotten flavour profiles from ancient grains used in the brewing process, this naturally gluten-free beer delivers a distrint, flavoursome aroma with a balanced bitterness.
Originally brewed in England circa 1780, India Pale Ales were created with a six-month slow-boat voyage in mind, to quench the thirst of British citizens who had developed a taste for ale but were unable to brew beers in the hot climate of India. A forgotten British tipple, that roughly two hundred years later saw a revival in 1970’s America that catapulted the ale’s popularity back in trend. Now, this popularity has hopped back over the pond, and landed once again in the UK. This beer is very well balanced. both clean floral and bitter marmalade tastes even out in this extremely elegant and drinkable IPA.
The distinctive flowery taste comes from a mixture of five hops: Target, Willamette, Simcoe, Amarillo and Nelson Sullivan from the NZ. Brewed from ancient grains: sorghum, millet and buckwheat and brown rice husks, this IPA is naturally gluten free, is suitable for vegans. Not only fuller in flavour, these ancient grains deliver beers higher in protein, calcium and vitamin B than barley based beers. Green’s pride themelves on going against the grain, pairing true beer craftsmanship with an innovative alchemy of ingredients to create something that’s as enjoyable to drink as it is complex to brew; a crafted range of beers made from ancient grains, that deliver on taste. With a sessionable abv of 5%, this is an ale to appreciate over an evening meal – enjoy the beer’s herbal aromas with a smoked fish or spicy meat-based main. Or, alternatively, try something a little different and serve with dessert, savouring this tipple with a citrus cheesecake.
Green’s IPA won two gold stars at the 2015 Great Taste Awards, with judges describing the ales as having: “A very pleasant, clean, floral bitter flavour that lasts well. Very good for a gluten free IPA, well balanced and drinkable with a pleasant carbonation.”
