Product Information
The whisky regions of Scotland originated as simply the Lowlands and Highlands, determined purely on a taxation basis. In order to be verified as a whisky region, there must be a minimum of three active distilleries within that area. Today there are five whisky regions in Scotland: Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, Campbeltown and Islay.
Some drams epitomise the exact flavour profiles for which the region they are located in is famed. Here, we look at some of the whiskies which embody their regional flavour profiles, with fantastic examples from one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, Bowmore, and one of the newest, Kingsbarns.
