Kimchi is synonymous with Korean food - it is basically Korean ketchup and goes with everything, in everything and on everything. We found it pretty easy to develop a hardcore kimchi addiction within a couple of weeks. While you may not want to whisper sweet nothings into someone's ear straight after eating it, its health properties are well recognised.
Other kits sold to make kimchi at home are suggesting that jars can be used. This stuff is fermented and has a very very potent smell. It will invade your kitchen, your house and your soul. We have therefore sourced a specialist kimchi container used in Korea. The internal vacuum seal and carbon filter really keep that kimchi smell locked in while keeping the cabbage submerged.
This container can also be used for sauerkraut and we've also had excellent results using it for both pickling and curing.
Kit contents
- Roichen kimchi container (9.5 litres)
- pair plastic gloves (essential for the kimchi mix)
- pot Korean red pepper powder
- Kitchen Provisions recipe card
