FAQS 

1. What is the shelf life of your chocolate?

Answer:
Our bars have a minimum shelf life of 3 months from the date of dispatch, but are often sent out with over a year. This allows you to gift them or stock up with confidence.

2. Are your bars truly raw chocolate?

Answer:
Yes. We use unroasted Peruvian Criollo cacao beans that are carefully fermented and sun-dried, then ground at low temperatures to preserve antioxidants and beneficial compounds. This is why we call it raw chocolate. Our chocolate has been independantly tested by a University, and was found to have significantly higher levels of antioxidants and polyphenols compared to 4 leading UK dark chocolate brands. 

3. Are your bars vegan and free from dairy?

Answer:
Absolutely. All bars are 100% plant-based and contain no animal-derived ingredients. Our “mylk” chocolates use a blend of rice and oat milks for a creamy texture without dairy.

4. Do your bars contain refined sugar?

Answer:
No. We only use natural sweeteners—yacon syrup (GI of just 1) or coconut blossom sugar—depending on the bar. Some bars, like our 100% cacao bar, contain no added sweeteners at all.

5. Are your bars free from the top 14 allergens?

Answer:
Yes. All ingredients are purchased allergen-free, and our facility is kept nut-free with a strict HACCP plan in place. Because we’re a small-batch producer, we don’t do costly end-product allergen testing, but we do not bring any of the top 14 allergens on site.

6. How are the bars packaged?

Answer:
We use plastic-free, compostable packaging, made of plant-based materials and vegetable inks. Even our parcel tape is plastic-free, and we don’t use bubble wrap. This aligns with our commitment to eco-friendly practices.

7. Is shipping included, and how are orders dispatched?

Answer:
All UK orders include free postage and typically arrive in slim, letterbox-friendly packaging for convenience. 

8. Does raw cacao have any health or mood benefits?

Answer:
Yes. Raw cacao contains theobromine, phenethylamine, anandamide, tryptophan, and other compounds that may enhance mood, energy levels, and cognitive function. It’s also a source of essential minerals like magnesium and iron.

9. Is your chocolate suitable for specific diets (keto, paleo, diabetic-friendly)?

Answer:
Many of our bars fit well into keto, paleo, or low-sugar diets—especially those sweetened with yacon syrup (Atey Ate% 88%, Signature Seventy 70%) or our 100% cacao bar (no sweetener added at all). With a GI of about 1, yacon syrup is popular among people mindful of blood sugar levels.

10. Where is your cacao sourced from and is it fairly traded?

Answer:
We source our organic cacao beans through a Peruvian farmers’ cooperative that practices sustainable agroforestry. We pay fair prices to farmers, protect the Amazon Rainforest, and ensure that no forests are cut down to grow our cacao.

11. Are your bars organic certified?

Answer:
Yes, all of our ingredients—cacao, sweeteners, flavorings—are organic. This ensures that our chocolate is free from pesticides and chemical residues and that farming methods are environmentally responsible.

12. Do you use palm oil in any of your products?

Answer:
No. We are committed to being palm oil-free. Instead, we rely on cacao butter and other plant-based ingredients for our textures and flavours.

13. Why do you keep the cacao unroasted?

Answer:
Raw, unroasted cacao is higher in natural antioxidants and polyphenols, which can support cardiovascular health, mood, and energy levels. We grind and conch our beans at low temperatures to maintain these beneficial compounds.

14. How do you ensure your chocolate remains allergen-safe without full end-product testing?

Answer:
We buy only allergen-free ingredients and adhere to a robust HACCP plan in a nut-free unit. No top 14 allergens are ever brought on-site. Though small-scale production makes formal testing cost-prohibitive, we take stringent measures to maintain an allergen-safe environment.
