Energising Cacao and Maca Bites

Perfect for when the 4pm energy slump strikes; these bites are filling, healthy and taste super chocolatey - what more could you want? They contain maca powder; a super food that is known for it's caffeine-free energising properties and it's impressive content of calcium, iron and vitamins B, C and E. Give these delicious bites a try next time the vending manchine is calling your name.

Recipe

Makes approx. 20 small balls

  • 4 Medjool dates
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup flaxseed
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 5 tbsp date syrup
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 1 tbsp maca powder

Method

Using a food processor, blitz the nuts until they become finely ground. Next add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and blitz. The mixture will come together and stick. Scoop out a small amount of mixture using a table spoon and roll it into a ball in the palm of your hand. Optionally, you can then roll the balls in shredded coconut, chia seeds, goji berries - or anything you want.

These delicious balls will store refrigerated in an air tight container for a couple of weeks.
