4-Ingredient Healthy Mocha Desserts

Are there two words that go together better than ‘healthy’ and ‘dessert’? If there are, I’d like to know! Healthy desserts are one of those things that once you discover them, it’s hard to ever go back – especially once you learn that you don’t have to sacrifice any of the taste or any of the indulgence.

These healthy mocha desserts contain no refined sugars, rich fats or anything like that. They are made with silken tofu, which gives them a delicious smooth and creamy texture. It also makes them a great source of plant-based protein! Their sweetness only comes from the dates, a great source of magnesium and various vitamins themselves.

If all of that wasn’t good enough already, this dessert is a cinch to make – all it requires is a decent food processor to do all of the work for you!

Ingredients

  • 400g silken tofu, drained
  • 100g dates, soaked in hot water
  • 3tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2tbsp liquid coffee (fresh or instant)

Method

  • Blend all of the ingredients together in a food processor.
  • Spoon into small pots and place in the fridge.
  • Allow to set for around fifteen minutes then serve straight from the fridge!

What healthy treats are you cooking up in your kitchen this week?

Hi Natalie, many thanks for sharing this recipe ! Waiting for it to set,do you add the water you soak the dates in please? I added enough water to cover them is that enough? Thank you :)

Hi Rachel, hope you enjoyed them! You need to drain the water away and just add the softened dates. Would love to hear how yours turned out and what you thought!

We are a fmaily of 6, me, my husband and 4 girls. All with sweet teeth and lookign to live a healthier life so this recipe was PERFECT. I loved it, the 3 littlest girls loved it (I used the dates with the water they were in), my husband felt cheated and ate a bar of chocolate to compensate and the eldest girl said it made her eyes water (but she is a bit odd). An unqualified success,(4 out of 6), filled 6 GU glass dishes with this delicious mousse, thank you for sharing this recipe :)

Hi Rachel, that's fantastic to hear! I would also consider 4/6 to be a good success rate ;) Not everything I make goes down well in my household either but these did!

Those GU glass pots are perfect, aren't they? I made mine in those pots too. So happy you enjoyed them - if you're looking for more healthy desserts there's plenty more on my blog too :)
