The heat of summer is waning away. The days are growing colder and the sun is not showing itself as much as it used to. If you're like me, you might be experiencing a change of mood along with the change of seasons. Blueberries are in season from May to October. If you're feeling low in energy and lower in mood than usual, eating blueberries would be a great mood lifter!
Bluberries pack a health potent punch, with having one of the highest antioxidant levels in a fruit, and packed with vitamin C to ward off those nasty colds, and rich in fibre. They also give your brain the boost it needs, increasing the signals between your neurons and protect your brain from oxidative stress.
What's even more amazing is that blueberries can act as a natural anti-depressant. The nutrient compounds in blueberries protect and reduces the body from inflammation, which has been known that an increase in inflammation can causes us to be in lower mood than usual. Sprinkle some blueberries in your lunch salads. They add another layer of flavour and also colour!

My favorite is to toast some juicy blueberries over a warm pan to slowly let their juices come out. Then, putting it over oatmeal, or eating with with yogurt and some granola into the mix!
Freeze 1 cup of blueberries and make a smoothie from them! I like combining bananas, blueberries, spinach with a spoonful of almond butter and almond milk. Whizz away!
