No More Coke! 3 Alcohol-Free Christmas Drink Ideas
‘Tis the season to be jolly, merry or tipsy! Lots of us look forward to a tipple or two at Christmas. But if you're tee-total (or maybe the designated driver), more often or not you're stuck with boring old juice, water or Coke. So it’s time to take things into your own hands – non-drinkers unite! Get creative with these festive alchol-free drinks:
1. Mulled Apple Juice
Fed-up of being left out when the mulled wine gets passed around? Whip-up a batch of Mulled Apple Juice instead. Simmer apple juice (pressed, not from concentrate) in a pan with with orange peel, cinnamon sticks and a few cloves – add a couple of spoons sugar or maple syrup to sweeten if needed.
You could even add a splash of cranberry juice to up the festive flavour - delicious!
2. Crimson Christmas Fizz
Continuously waving away that drunk family trying to refill your glass with champagne can wear a bit thin over Christmas! There's no need to miss out on fizz though - this easy mocktail will have the drinkers feeling jealous! Add a 10ml of Raspberry Coulis (or blended frozen raspberries) to the bottom of a tall glass. Top-up with equal amounts of sparkling elderflower presse and orange juice, then enjoy!
3. Ginger Beer Mojito
Almost every cocktail can be made without the key alcohol ingredient - one that is still very tasty without the rum is the good old Mojito. Muddle together mint leaves and the juice of half a lime in a glass with crushed ice. Top-up with ginger beer (or sparkling water with a couple of Ginger spice drops and teaspoon of sugar), and enjoy!
