Start your 2016 with an Exercise Boost
Apparently, the most common resolution made in the New Year is to exercise more. Whether this is part of a bigger resolution such as losing weight, or just you wanting to get healthy and fit, hopefully there are some ideas below which can give you a little bit of a boost to start your new resolution in 2016.
- Remember that time may not be a big a factor as you think. Research has shown that 3x20 minute workouts or even 4x15 minute workouts can be just as effective as one hour long work out. If you only have small chunks of time, use them to do a quick aerobic video (and there are loads of really good free ones on YouTube).
- As well as the workouts detailed above, try and be more active. This can be as simple as taking the stairs, walking to the shops or just going for a walk at lunchtime. Personally, I'm planning to walk for twenty minutes a day in the New Year, whether this is on errands or just for pleasure.
- Finally, find what works for you. I hate getting hot and sweaty, but love yoga and pilates. Other people love the rush they get when doing something active. Don't think for one minute that you need to keep jogging every day and hating it - there will be something out there which works for you. Just find it!
