Berry and Tiger Nut smoothie
One of my all time favourite smoothies is berry and tiger nut. The recipe is simple: 75g of mixed frozen berries, 100ml of apple juice and a handful of peeled tiger nuts. Simply blitz until the smoothie is complete - I like to leave mine with a bit of crunch from the nuts and some of the berries being whole.
But what are the health benefits?
Berries are rich in Vitamin C, calcium (strawberries and raspberries), magnesium (strawberries and raspberries) and minerals (blueberries) and are low in calories. By keeping them frozen, the costs are cut, the berries stay fresh and it provides me with a nice cold smoothie.
Apple juice is rich in Vitamin C and may help to reduce stress and improve memory due to the minerals found in apples.
Tiger nuts can help reduce the risk of heart disease, boosts circulation and can help reduce the risk of colon cancer. They are also high in 'good' fats.
Happy smoothie making all!
