Introducing the Top 4 Craft Rhubarb Gins
Rhubarb gin might just be the perfect drink for Summer!
Infusing spirits like Gin with fruit or vegetables has been trending for years and is a great way to impart some flavour into the drink. Rhubarb brings out a delicious, aromatic flavour and a deep, beautiful pink colour. It’s the perfect process to start in Spring as rhubarb flourishes, allowing the Gin to be infused with rhubarb for a period of time and enjoyed just in time for Summer.
Our talented artisans always love to get creative with their craft gin spirits, so we’ve selected the 4 best handcrafted Rhubarb Gins for you to try out this Summer. After all, what could be more English than Rhubarb? It’s brilliant in pies, crumbles and now in your new favourite Rhubarb Gin.
The Rhubarb British Artisan Gin by 55 Above is a limited edition gin that’s handcrafted in small batches. A delightfully sweet, full-bodied drink with a sweet aftertaste that has none of the tartness you might expect from Rhubarb. It’s made in their traditional copper pot stills, distilled using fresh juniper, coriander, citrus zests and macadamia nuts and then infused with fine, English Rhubarb.
Serving suggestion: serve it with ice and a good quality tonic.
The Rhubarb Old Tom Gin by Orkney Gin Company is made using handpicked, fresh and dried botanicals, red Scottish rhubarb, juniper, Seville orange peels, Orcadian rose petals and cinnamon sticks. Rhubarb Old Tom has picked up many awards for it's unique zingy and lightly sweetened flavour - with a gold in the World Gin Awards and a highly sought after Great Taste Award in its great repertoire. Orkney Spirits Limited is a family-run small business that has been awarded a Great Taste Producer status.
Serving suggestion: pair with delicious tonic, ginger ale, lemonade, or even prosecco!
The Rhubarb Gin Liqueur by Tiny Tipple Company is the proud winner of a Great Taste *1 Award in 2018. This spirit is made from fresh pink rhubarb from Rockland St. Mary, and all their fruit infused spirits are made using fruit gathered locally or grown in their own gardens.
Serving suggestion: serve it over ice with some tonic (optional) and garnish with fresh mint.
The Raisthorpe Rhubarb Gin Liqueur is also a 2018 Great Taste Award winner. This spirit is blended at Raisthorpe by their own dedicated staff using locally grown fresh rhubarb and spends nine months in their tanks before being filtered and bottled. (Hence its intense rhubarb aroma and rose colour).
Serving suggestion: pair it with ginger beer or elderflower tonic. If you’re feeling frizzy, try it with prosecco or champagne! It is also delicious with Raisthorpe's Strawberry and Pomegranate Yorkshire Tonic.
