THE STORY BEHIND YOUR HOSTS

The Host’s Pantry is run by Shropshire couple, Jessica and Scott Woodland. A lifelong love of food culminated in our solution to hosting at home.

It all started when Scott was 18 years old after he ended up in London on a whim. He got a job at Belgo Centraal serving mussels by the kilo dressed in a monk’s habit! Eventually he went on to manage restaurants in the city and his obsession with food and wine accelerated. Soon an idea for a new business was born – one he would often bring up over dinner or drinks with friends. His idea was to make hosting at home simple by bringing together all the quality ingredients needed to make a delicious recipe.

For someone like Scott, it would be a solution for those starved of time who love getting together with loved ones over good food and drink. For someone like Jess, the recipes would help grow confidence in the kitchen, learning the tricks to prepping food. And those lovingly prepared recipes could be kept forever and reused again and again.

However, we were both working full-time jobs with long hours, so the business didn’t get off the ground for a few more years. It was the pandemic that gave us the space to turn our idea into a reality. In 2020 a friend of ours designed a logo, so to say thank you, we put together our first-ever recipe box. They loved the box and shared the result with friends, who ordered boxes too, and after 3 months, we were delivering so many boxes that our 2-metre square kitchen couldn’t cope anymore! We painstakingly converted part of a workshop owned by Scott’s father into a base for our new thriving business. By November 2020 the workshop, logo, website, recipes, and suppliers were all in place, just in time for our baby to arrive! Since then, the business has helped transform how lovers of good food host and gift.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Choose a recipe box and receive the recipe with detailed guidance, and all the quality ingredients needed to make it. You don’t have to be an experienced chef - our boxes will help you build your confidence in the kitchen. Or if you love cooking already, but you don’t have time to source everything, it’s a simple solution.

If you already have the recipes, you can use our Pantry as a place to order premium, carefully selected produce. It’s all about a helping hand to cook delicious meals at home! We are also a gifting solution for the foodie in your life. As well as recipe boxes, we provide gift hampers using locally produced food and drink.

WHY US?

Our service provides the tools so that anyone, whether you’re an experienced cook or not, can feel like you can host a meal at home. We have built strong relationships with farmers, butchers, fishmongers, producers and suppliers of all sizes, many of whom supply to top restaurants up and down the country, to provide all the quality ingredients you need in one place, saving you time.

Sustainability is important to our ethos too. Our packaging is environmentally friendly, with recyclable boxes and insulation, biodegradable bags, and reusable ice packs. We hope The Host’s Pantry helps you to create delicious dishes and memories with loved ones that you’ll treasure forever.
