About The Tree Crowd: Our Mission
The Tree Crowd is a powerful intiative, combining tree-planting and food-gifting in a bid to help end poverty and rewind deforestation in Africa. Africa has the highest rate of deforestation globally with 4 million hectares of forest being lost every year. That’s the equivalent of 5 million football pitches. The reason is poverty. Small-scale farmers make up 70% of the continent’s population and they clear forests to grow short-term crops. Our solution is donating long-lasting fruit and nut trees that enables farmers to earn more while supporting the environment
For every purchase, we donate a tree crop to a small-scale farmer in Tanzania, Africa and support farmers by buying single-origin, organic and vegan ingredients in the same region. These ingredients are processed by UK SME partners who produce gergeous foodie treats. Every tree adoption comes with certificate, updates from the farm in Africa, and a foodie treat made from local ingredients.
70% of your purchase is spent on planting tree crops, supporting acess to market through purchasing the gift, monitoring our agroforestry projects and maximising impact.
What's included:
Good choice! We’ll send a 65g bar of Tanzanian Organic 72% Dark Chocolate plus a certificate* showing the adopted cacao tree, its location in Tanzania and exclusive content directly from the farms. You or your gift recipient will be able to track the progress of the crop and see how it’s benefiting the community and environment. The tree certificate can be personalised as a gift card with a hand-written message at the back. Your gift will be beautifully packaged in our signature branded eco-box.
Our fine 72% Dark Chocolate is made in small bean-to-bar batches in the UK by a chocolatier with beans grown by small farms in the Morogoro region of Tanzania, the same area where your tree will be planted. Farmers are paid 20-40% premium for the cacao beans. The cacao beans have been fermented for longer for a deep flavour with fruity, warm and nutty notes.
* Certificate made from 100% genuine de-inked postconsumer waste. Printed in the UK
