This pretty hand made terracotta herb pot contains aromatic dried Calabrian sage. Dried sage is used all over Italy in many different recipes. It works well in pasta dishes, risottos, lasagna, roast potatoes and meat dishes. It also pairs well with fresh cheeses. We use it to make a very simple sauce for pasta, tortellini or gnocchi. Just fry some sage leaves in butter and add to the pasta of your choice! This herb has known anti-inflammatory properties and is also said to aid digestion. Interestingly the name for sage in Italian 'salvia' comes from the latin root that means health.

This family firm, established in 1998 is located in the Sila Mountains. Like many of our producers Casarecci di Calabria use old fashioned recipes to create old fashioned products, once the staples of any Southern Italian family and now sought after delicacies.
