Food Makers

Christmas Deliveries & Royal Mail strikes: the Royal Mail (and some Post Offices in conjunction) are currently running a series of strikes which is affecting delivery timescales. Delays caused by the Royal Mail strikes are beyond the control of the small business makers who sell our our markeplace. However, our makers are working to minimise this impact wherever they can.

Over half of our makers are now shipping using alternative carriers. Generally if you select Tracked Express delivery for your order it will either be delivered by an alternative courier or an expedited Royal Mail service.

These Royal Mail strikes will put pressure on all delivery networks. So our advice is to order your gifts as early as possible, and order with Tracked Express delivery where available.

We thank you on behalf of our makers for your patience should your order experience any short delays due to the Royal Mail strikes. When you shop on the Yumbles marketplace you are buying from a person or small team who puts their all into making, sourcing or baking incredible food and unique gifts – and they’re doing their very best to make your Christmas sparkle.

Christmas Last Order Dates

We recommend that you order as early as possible and no later than the dates below.

Note: these last order dates are a general guide only

  • they are based on the last postal dates currently being communicated by the Royal Mail and by couriers.
  • last order dates vary by maker, based on the carriers they use and their dispatch lead times. For example, made to order items will have earlier last order dates.

So always check the delivery estimates for the specific product you are ordering - you will see if their estimated delivery dates are before Christmas on both the product page and also at checkout.

Delivery option Recommended latest order date
Economy Monday 12th December
Standard Thursday 15th December
Tracked Express Wednesday 21st December

How it works

Every order is sent to you directly by the talented food (or drink) maker - who often make their foods freshly to order for you. If you order items from more than one food maker you will receive more than one delivery (yay to multiple surprises in the post!).

The food makers specify their own delivery options, and follow the guide below to make sure their delivery prices are fair and reasonable. Delivery charges always reflect the actual costs our makers incur from delivery partners, and any special packaging needed to ensure your items arrive in perfect condition. Their delivery options and charges can be seen on their product details pages, in your basket and also confirmed before you checkout.

As soon as your items have been dispatched you will receive confirmation that your delivery is on its way. You can track the status of your orders in your Yumbles account, where you can also get in touch with the maker directly if you have any questions (click on "Contact Seller"). If you’d still like more help, get in touch with us – we’ll be very happy to help.

Delivery guide

Delivery Option* How long it takes How much it costs**
Economy Delivered within 2 to 3 days from dispatch. Up to £3.50 per delivery, often much less. Many are free.
Standard Delivered within 1 to 2 days from dispatch. Up to £4.50 per delivery, often much less. Many are free.
Tracked Express Delivered the next working day from dispatch. Up to £9.95 per delivery, often less.
Saturday Delivered on the next available Saturday. Up to £15.00 per delivery, often less.

* All delivery options are for UK deliveries only. International delivery is not currently available on Yumbles. Food makers confirm on their product pages and also on checkout which of these delivery options are available for their products.

** These guide prices indicate the maximum charges for orders of standard food items on Yumbles to mainland UK. Food makers will confirm their actual delivery charges on their product pages and also when you checkout. Orders including non-standard items (for example: glass bottled drinks, large kitchen accessories, or chilled foods), or orders exceeding 2kg in total weight, may have higher delivery costs associated due to their size, weight or unique shipping requirements. Orders to non-mainland UK addresses like the Scottish Highlands & Islands may be higher if being shipped by couriers who charge more for such locations. All Yumbles food makers are committed to keeping delivery charges to a minimum.

Tip: the more items you order from any one food maker often the more economical the delivery charges will be, particularly with most makers offering free standard delivery above certain order values.

Late delivery

While our makers consistently dispatch orders on time very occasionally, unavoidable factors can delay the delivery services they use (Royal Mail strikes or bad weather, for example). We do ask for your patience if this happens – the maker will be doing their very best to sort it out for you.

If your items haven't arrived within the delivery timescales check the available tracking for your order here. If there is no traacking info or you need more help then get in touch directly with the maker who you ordered from to let them know. You can do that from the same Order tracking page in you Yumbles account. The maker will be keen to ensure you get your order asap.

In the unlikely event that your order has not arrived on time, and you've been in touch directly with the maker and they have not been able to resolve the delivery issue for you quickly within 2 working days at most, then get in touch with us – we’ll be very happy to help.

See the Returns & Refunds policy for more info on refunds for late or non delivery.
