Founder Angelika Searle was born and bred in Bavaria and had the maiden name Dinkel, which translates to Spelt. It can be assumed that her ancesters were certainly involved in growing Spelt, the ancient grain. Baking was always close to her heart and it is an essential tradition in almost every family in her country. As her children were growing up she wanted to use her skills and after feedback from her friends at church she decided to launch Bavarian Patisserie, now Pretzel & Spelt. She makes her tasty treats in the healthiest possible way, using traditional ingredients used over centuries.
