Diet Flagging? Get Back On Track with these 3 Top Tips
A few weeks into the New Year and if you're anything like me - some resolutions are going strong, while others have already fallen by the wayside! If your diet is flagging, get back on track with these three quick tips:
1. Purge any junk food
It's a month after Christmas and you still have leftover chocolates, crisps and nibbles floating around? It's time to stick them in the bin. If they're in your house, then you will always be tempted to eat them. So get rid! If you really can't bear to throw food away, send any unopened food to a food bank.
2. Look at when and how you overeat
We tend to associate food with comfort, warmth and family, especially after Christmas. Look to break that cycle by eating healthier food together with family members as much as possible. Creating good, happy memories around (healthy) food will help re-wire your brain and make you feel good about eating healthier, instead of deprived.
3. Have a support system
If you are the only one dieting or on board with healthy eating at home, then there's little wonder you're falling off course. Explain to your partner, significant other or housemate why you are wanting to eat healthier. If you have children, allow them to pick a vegetable to go with a meal and to also get involved in some of the cooking! You could also join a local group such as Slimming World or Weight Watchers, the support and accountability can work wonders.
