Almond & Dark Chocolate Sussex Alberts Biscuits - Gluten Free (4 Packs)
Handmade in Sussex this is an unusual but delicious biscuit inspired by a recipe for "An Albert" pudding from the 1830's by a local Chichester resident.
The Albert was a rich pudding contained ratafia cakes made with bitter almonds, a popular 18th & 19th century flavouring. They were used in tiny quantities to enhance the taste of a dish. Partnering this with oats & dark chocolate has created an unusual, but delicious biscuit. Serve with tea or coffee, or with ice-cream.
Horsham Gingerbread use pure, old fashioned ingredients like butter and raw cane sugars in all of their hand made gingerbreads and biscuits. Where possible, they include local or British grown ingredients. They do not use xanthan gum to replace the missing gluten – far too modern - black treacle and local honey work just fine for them!
