A box of six gluten-free Portuguese Bean Cakes, known in Portuguese as Pastéis de Feijão de Torres Vedras sem Glúten, which are almond and white bean cakes with a delicate earthy flavour.
Bean Cakes are a gluten-free variation of Bean Cups, a typical treat from the area of Torres Vedras, north of Lisbon, made with rice flour instead of wheat. The history of these pastries dates back to the end of the 19th century, and their producers still descend from the original family who made them popular all over Portugal.
Certified gluten-free by the Portuguese Coeliac Association.
